I was fairly comfortable last year. I had a good job and great family. I was plugged in to my local church and felt that I was doing ok health-wise too. You’re probably feeling something similar today.
Comfort is a silent killer. Don’t get me wrong, I want you to be comfortable, but I also want you to be a little uncomfortable too. In other words, I want you to live, be here for your family, and make a difference in this world.
While I was comfortably drifting (relatively) aimlessly, lightning struck. I had a heart attack at the age of 40 and should have died. If you’ve heard of the “widow maker,” you’ll understand why I said that.
Lightning struck again, less than a year later when I lost my job of over 15 years.
Because I was comfortable, I didn’t eat as healthy as I should have. I didn’t work on my professional development as much as I should have. I didn’t do some other things that I should have too. Luckily, lightning only struck me twice.
Most lightning strikes can be avoided, but you need to start avoiding them TODAY. Each person has their own lightning to avoid, but here are three common areas that I hope you start attacking to avoid the strikes now.
- Eating Healthy
- Developing Yourself
- Building or Mending Relationships
