I feel like I’ve learned and/or validated some incredible life lessons from John. The one that prompted this post is about knowing your why. Some of you may have learned this lesson from Simon Sinek in regards to business, but I feel like John O’Leary is much more compelling when teaching about it.
When you know your WHY, you can overcome any HOW.
John says, “I will thrive because God demands it, my family deserves it, and the world is starved for it.”
He advises that we should begin everyday thinking of the answers to these questions as a victor instead of a victim.
- Why Me? (Why do I get to work, see light, smell, or live in one of the greatest countries in the history of mankind?)
- Who Cares? (Life is worth it and it’s worth fighting for. Who cares if the market is down, traffic is bad, or your boss is nagging you?)
- What’s the Point? (What is your “Why?”)
Thinking through these questions can give you a whole new perspective, like it has for me.
